Due to the success of our litter in the summer of 2008, in terms of looks, temperament, health and working potential, we are almost certainly going to have a repeat mating of Feargal (Horsey Cornerake at Fendrake) and Meagan (Kirkmarsh Roisin Dubh at Fendrake).
We are now planning to have a litter in late Autumn of 2009. Mating was due to occur in late June but unfortunately Meagan met with an accident (she went over a weir and almost drowned) just before she was due to come into season and almost certainly as a result of the stress missed her season.
However, Meagan did come into season on 4th August and so hopefully things are looking up.
Because we don't rate the breed standard above everything else, we aim to have litters with low inbreeding coefficients to minimise the risk of inherited diseases. The planned litter will have the fourth lowest inbreeding coefficient of any Irish Water Spaniel litter born in the UK in the last 3 years, where one or more of the parents was not from overseas.
The 5 generation pedigree contains dogs from 6 different countries.
Of course both parents have been hip and elbow scored and their eyes tested and are both extremely healthy and as they both live with us, you will be able to see them together.
If you are looking for the perfect show dog then we are probably not for you.
