Grandparents For those who have one of Meagan's puppies or are patiently waiting
for one you may wish to find out a bit more about the puppies'
grandparents.
There is also a video at the end of one of Meagan's brothers, Logan.
Feargal's Parents
This is Ellie (back right), Feargal's mum, registered name Peewit Samphire, born
July 4th 1999.
Hip score: Right 3, Left 4, total 7.
Ellie is bred and owned by Paul &
Pat Farrington from Dovercourt, breeders of our Feargal. She is
an out and out working dog used for wildfowling on the Essex
marshes and for picking up.
Derek Robinson, Country Journalist and fellow IWS owner wrote
about Ellie in Countryman's Weekly after having gone wildfowling
with Paul Farrington. He described a particularly difficult
retrieve that she had made and said how he was impressed by the
dog work on display.
Ellie still lives in Dovercourt, with two of her daughters
(Feargal's sisters) who are also used for picking up, as well as
their two working Golden Retrievers.
This is Morgan, Feargal's dad , registered name Killountain
Donovan at Kirkmarsh, born 1 October 1998.

Morgan, named after the Captain Morgan Rum, was bred by Lois
Ferrans in Stockport and owned by Denise Hurst of the Kirkmarsh
Working Irish Water Spaniel Kennels near Sheffield (www.kirkmarsh.co.uk).
An excellent working dog, both in competitions and as a picking
up dog his achievements included a first in an any variety
novice gundog working test and in 2002 a second place in a field
of 28 dogs in a novice any variety gundog working test organised
by the Northern Golden Retriever Association.
He sired a total of 40 puppies from 5 litters, of which
Feargal's was the first.
One of our new puppy owners owned one of Morgan's brothers and
their puppy is to be named Grace, after Morgan's mother.
Meagan's Parents
This is Liz, from Sweden, Meagan's mother,
registered name Bayrakki's Parlemo at Kirkmarsh, born 25 July
2003.

Bred by Matts Sjogren and imported into the
UK by Denise and Melvyn Hurst (www.kirkmarsh.co.uk).
Liz was brought to the UK to help improve the IWS gene pool and
by mating her with Cal, to produce Meagan's litter, produced the
sixth lowest inbreeding coefficient (Wright's Coefficient of inbreeding:)
of any UK litter for at least the last 6 years.
Liz has a lot of American breeding behind her and with 20
offspring of her own and 50 grand children, including a litter
of 11 and Meagan's 20 puppies, she has certainly been used to
spread those American genes around.
Liz is used for picking up.
This is Cal, from Ireland, Meagan's father,
registered name Irish Show Champion Cahean Ingleside, born 16
November 1999.

Bred by Belinda Heaney and owned by Emma O' Donnell.
For those of you who like Crufts and used to watch Crufts when
it was on the BBC, you may remember Cal and his then 16 year old
owner Emma. Emma and Cal featured in part of the BBC coverage of
Crufts in 2005 and the coverage included walks along the
beautiful beaches in Ireland with Emma's Irish Water Spaniels.

Cal has sired 4 litters in the UK and 1 in Sweden.
